Support my project ‘PUTSCH’ on the crowdfunding-page

PUTSCH is a temporary project-space for political caricature, taking place from September 9th til September 29th 2013 in Berlin. It is a student project from the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.

The project’s starting point is the fact that the German domain of political caricature is mainly run by men who are over their fifties. Therefore the face of caricature in German media has not changed over the past 30 years. Our project intends to change this. Coming from a young perspective, we want to reinterpret political caricature as a visual political comment. Including inputs from journalism, illustration, action art, performance and–of course–politics, we want to broaden the aesthetic repertoire of political caricature.

PUTSCH will be open to ten art- and design-students from all around Germany, attending workshops by renowned illustrators, political journalists and artists. The outcome of the the workshops will be published on tumblr, facebook and twitter, in a book and a curated exhibition. Along with new aesthetics, the main theme of the workshops will be the Bundestag (German Parliament) elections on September 22nd.

The supervisor is professor Chris Rehberger. PUTSCH is further supported by our patron Franziska Becker, famous and prize-winning cartoonist of the German feminist magazine “EMMA”.

As the whole project deals with political caricature in Germany, all our public interaction will be in German. If you are interested in the project, feel free to contact us and we will be happy to answer your questions in English:
